Astrology calendar 2026–2028

The sky keeps a schedule. Here is every Moon, eclipse, retrograde and sign change for the months ahead, so you can plan with the rhythm instead of against it.

How to use this calendar

Think of this page as the sky’s appointment book. Each month below lists the moments astrologers watch most closely, in the order they happen. You don’t need to know any astrology to use it. Skim your month, notice the dates that stand out, and see whether they match the way your weeks actually feel.

Here is what you’ll find in the tables:

  • New and Full Moons. A New Moon is the dark start of the Moon’s monthly cycle, good for beginnings. A Full Moon is its bright peak, good for finishing and letting go. Each one falls in a zodiac sign that colors its theme. The Moon calendar explains them in more detail.
  • Season changes. When the Sun moves into a new sign, that sign’s season begins. If your birthday is coming, this is when “your” month starts. Find your sign on the zodiac signs page.
  • Planets changing sign. When Mercury, Venus, Mars or a slower planet enters a new sign, the way that planet works shifts a little: Venus in fiery Aries flirts very differently from Venus in careful Capricorn. The planets guide tells you what each one rules.
  • Stations. From Earth, planets sometimes seem to stop and move backward for a while. That backward stretch is called a retrograde. A station is the day a planet appears to stand still and turn, either retrograde or direct (forward again). The most famous is Mercury retrograde.
  • Eclipses. These special New and Full Moons happen only a few times a year and are read as turning points. The eclipses page covers each one in 2027 and 2028.

A tip: these dates matter most where they touch your own birth chart. A Full Moon in your Sun sign, or a planet moving through your Rising sign, will feel more personal than one landing in a quiet corner of your chart. If you know your big three, look out for those three signs below.

Nov 24, 202614:53 UTCFull Moon in Gemini
Nov 25, 202623:37 UTCMars enters Virgo

November opens with Mercury still retrograde in Scorpio, as it has been since October 24, so the first two weeks favor finishing, rereading and honest second conversations over brand-new plans. The Scorpio New Moon on the 9th is a quiet, private place to begin again, and once Mercury and Venus turn direct on the 13th and 14th, words and affection tend to flow more easily. Then Sagittarius season opens the windows: by the Gemini Full Moon you may want more air, more talk and a looser schedule. More on this period on the Mercury retrograde page.

December is a month of planets changing gears. Saturn and Neptune both turn direct within two days, and Jupiter starts its retrograde in Leo on the 13th, so long-running projects may feel ready to move while bigger dreams ask for a second look. The Sagittarius New Moon on the 9th suits a fresh plan for the year ahead, and the Cancer Full Moon on the 24th puts home, family and the people you cook for at the center of the picture.

Jan 22, 202712:17 UTCFull Moon in Leo

January starts with a Capricorn New Moon on the 7th, the classic moment to set one sturdy goal instead of ten wishes. Mars turns retrograde in Virgo on the 10th and stays that way until April, which tends to slow anything you try to force: think of it as the season for fixing the bike before you ride it hard. Aquarius season and the Leo Full Moon later in the month pull the focus toward friends, play and what makes you feel seen.

February is the busiest month of the winter sky. The first eclipse of 2027 arrives with the Aquarius New Moon on the 6th, Mercury turns retrograde in Pisces on the 9th, and a soft penumbral eclipse falls on the Virgo Full Moon on the 20th. It is a month that rewards reflection more than rushing, and a good time to notice which habits, groups and routines still fit you. The eclipses page explains what each one may highlight.

Mar 22, 202710:43 UTCFull Moon in Libra
Mar 26, 202708:16 UTCVenus enters Pisces

March loosens the knots. Mercury turns direct on the 3rd, the Pisces New Moon on the 8th invites rest and imagination, and the March equinox on the 20th starts the astrological year with Aries season. The Libra Full Moon two days later is a natural check-in on your closest partnerships: who gives, who takes, and whether that balance still feels fair.

Apr 20, 202722:27 UTCFull Moon in Scorpio
Apr 24, 202722:18 UTCMercury enters Taurus

April feels like a green light after a long red one. Mars turns direct on the 1st, Jupiter follows on the 13th, and the Aries New Moon on the 6th is one of the strongest starting points of the year. The Scorpio Full Moon on the 20th, just after the Sun reaches Taurus, ends the month on a deeper note: what are you ready to let go of, so the new things have room to grow?

May 21, 202706:18 UTCSun enters Gemini: Gemini season begins
May 28, 202717:06 UTCMercury enters Cancer

May is steady and sensual. The Taurus New Moon on the 6th favors slow, practical beginnings, like a garden, a calmer morning routine or a plan you can actually keep, while Pluto turns retrograde on the 8th for its yearly inward stretch. For the second month running the Full Moon falls in Scorpio, this time at the sign’s very last degree, a second chance to finish what April’s Full Moon stirred up.

June runs quick and curious. The Gemini New Moon on the 4th is good for learning, writing and fresh conversations, and Venus entering Gemini adds a little charm to all of them. Mercury turns retrograde in Cancer on the 10th, so old friends, family stories and unfinished talks at home may come back around. The June solstice on the 21st begins Cancer season, a natural pause to ask what makes you feel safe.

Jul 27, 202712:30 UTCVenus enters Leo

July begins tender and home-loving, with Venus and the New Moon in Cancer and Mercury turning direct on the 4th. A faint penumbral eclipse shades the Capricorn Full Moon on the 18th, a gentle nudge to weigh your ambitions against your need for rest. Late in the month the mood warms quickly: Leo season starts on the 23rd and Jupiter moves into Virgo on the 26th, where it stays until August 2028.

Aug 23, 202708:14 UTCSun enters Virgo: Virgo season begins
Aug 31, 202717:41 UTCNew Moon in Virgo

August holds the biggest sky event of the year: a total solar eclipse with the Leo New Moon on the 2nd, one of the longest totalities of the century. Saturn turns retrograde in Aries on the 9th, and a penumbral eclipse falls on the Aquarius Full Moon on the 17th, so the month swings between heart and head, self-expression and community. Virgo season and a second New Moon on the 31st then offer a tidy moment to sort things out after a big summer.

September is about finding balance. Mars moves into Scorpio on the 2nd, Mercury and Venus head into Libra, and the Pisces Full Moon on the 15th asks for rest and a softer heart; Uranus turns retrograde in Gemini that same day. The September equinox on the 23rd starts Libra season, and the Libra New Moon on the 30th is a lovely time to begin something together with someone else.

Oct 29, 202713:36 UTCNew Moon in Scorpio

October brings its share of second thoughts. Mercury turns retrograde in Scorpio on the 7th and slips back into Libra on the 16th, so promises, plans and relationship talks may deserve a careful reread before it turns direct on the 28th. The Aries Full Moon on the 15th shows what you want for yourself, Pluto turns direct on the 18th, and the Scorpio New Moon on the 29th closes the month with a fresh, private start.

November moves from depth toward the horizon. The Taurus Full Moon on the 14th asks what you truly value and what you can release. On the 25th Venus and Mars enter Capricorn within hours of each other, steadying love and drive with patience, and the Sagittarius New Moon on the 28th suits travel plans, study or a big question you want to explore.

Saturn turns direct in Aries on the 24th, and the year ends with a Capricorn New Moon on the 27th: a clean, calm page for whatever you want to build next.

January 2028 begins with Mars and Mercury moving into Aquarius, and the Cancer Full Moon on the 12th arrives with a small partial lunar eclipse, a soft spotlight on home, family and what you need to feel looked after. Jupiter turns retrograde in Virgo that same day, and Mercury turns retrograde in Aquarius on the 24th, two days before an annular solar eclipse joins the Aquarius New Moon. With so much turning inward, this is a month for listening to new ideas before you sign up for them.

Feb 19, 202803:26 UTCSun enters Pisces: Pisces season begins
Feb 25, 202810:37 UTCNew Moon in Pisces

February is gentler. Venus moves into bold Aries on the 7th, so affection may feel more direct, and the Leo Full Moon on the 10th asks what makes you glow. Mercury turns direct on the 14th, plans that stalled in late January can start moving again, and the Pisces New Moon on the 25th is a soft, dreamy place to begin something you’d rather not rush.

Mar 26, 202804:31 UTCNew Moon in Aries
Mar 31, 202812:27 UTCMercury enters Aries

March gathers speed. Venus settles into Taurus, one of its own signs, on the 4th, and the Virgo Full Moon on the 11th is a good moment to tidy routines that slipped over the winter. Then Mars enters Aries, its own sign, on the 19th, the equinox opens Aries season the next day, and the Aries New Moon on the 26th makes this one of the year’s strongest moments for a fresh start.

Apr 24, 202819:46 UTCNew Moon in Taurus
Apr 27, 202822:21 UTCMars enters Taurus

April’s big story is Saturn, the planet of time, structure and commitment, which leaves Aries and enters Taurus on the 13th. Saturn spends about two and a half years in each sign, and in Taurus it tends to turn the focus to what lasts: your body, your home, your resources and the values you actually live by. With Taurus season, a Taurus New Moon on the 24th and Mars arriving in Taurus on the 27th, this is a grounded month, better for steady building than for sprinting.

May turns reflective after its first week. Venus turns retrograde in Gemini on the 10th and Mercury joins it on the 21st, so the planet of love and the planet of talk are both looking back at once, in the same sign. Old conversations, old friends and unanswered messages may drift back for a second look, and the Gemini New Moon on the 24th favors honest questions over quick answers.

June untangles slowly. Mercury turns direct on the 14th and Venus on the 22nd, so the knots of late spring can loosen over the month, especially in close relationships and long talks. Mars brings fresh energy into Gemini on the 7th, and the June solstice on the 20th opens Cancer season, with a Cancer New Moon two days later at the very start of the sign: a quiet place to begin something close to home.

July holds the headline of the year. A partial lunar eclipse on the Capricorn Full Moon on the 6th weighs ambition against home, and on the 22nd a total solar eclipse falls on the New Moon at 29° Cancer, the sign’s very last degree, just hours before the Sun moves into Leo. With Neptune turning retrograde on the 11th and Mars entering Cancer on the 20th, it may help to keep the month soft around the edges and let your feelings set the pace.

August warms up. The Aquarius Full Moon on the 5th turns the light toward friends and the groups you belong to, Venus finally leaves Gemini for Cancer on the 7th after four months, and the Leo New Moon on the 20th is a fine time to start something playful. The month ends with a change of gears: Virgo season begins on the 22nd, Saturn turns retrograde in Taurus that same day, and Jupiter, the planet of growth, moves from Virgo into Libra on the 24th after about a year.

September has two sides. Mars and Venus both enter Leo in the first week, adding warmth and confidence, while the Pisces Full Moon on the 3rd softens the start of the month. The Virgo New Moon on the 18th suits a practical fresh start, but the very next day Mercury turns retrograde in Libra and Uranus turns retrograde in Gemini, so the September equinox on the 22nd may feel more like a pause for reflection than a launch.

November runs deep before it opens up. The Taurus Full Moon on the 2nd asks what you want to keep, and the Scorpio New Moon on the 16th suits private beginnings: the journal, the honest talk, the plan you don’t announce yet. On the 21st Venus enters Scorpio, Mercury enters Sagittarius and the Sun begins Sagittarius season, all within one day, and the mood turns toward open roads, study and bigger questions.

December 2028 closes the calendar with two Full Moons. The Gemini Full Moon on the 2nd brings busy talk and loose ends, the Sagittarius New Moon on the 16th suits a hopeful plan for the year ahead, and the December solstice on the 21st opens Capricorn season, with Mars arriving in Libra within the same hour. On the 31st a total lunar eclipse falls on the Cancer Full Moon: a tender, reflective end to the year, centered on home and the people who feel like it.

Questions about the astrology calendar

What does it mean when a planet “enters” a sign?

It means the planet, as seen from Earth, has crossed into the next stretch of the zodiac. The planet keeps doing its usual job, but in a new style: Mercury in Gemini talks fast and asks many questions, while Mercury in Capricorn wants a clear agenda. Faster planets change sign every few weeks; the slow outer planets stay for years.

Why are the dates of the zodiac seasons slightly different each year?

A normal 365-day year is about a quarter of a day shorter than the Sun’s full trip around the zodiac, and the leap day only catches up every fourth year. So the exact moment the Sun enters a sign drifts by a few hours from year to year. That is why someone born on the 22nd of a month can be one sign in one year and the next sign in another, and why the time of birth matters on those edge days.

Is a retrograde bad?

No. A retrograde is a slower, more reflective phase for whatever that planet rules. It is a good time to revisit, repair and rethink, and every planet goes through it. Most people get through Mercury retrograde with nothing worse than a few extra reminders and a second draft. Read more on the Mercury retrograde page.

When are the eclipses in 2027 and 2028?

There are five in 2027: an annular solar eclipse on Feb 6, a penumbral lunar eclipse on Feb 20, a penumbral lunar eclipse on Jul 18, a total solar eclipse on Aug 2 and a penumbral lunar eclipse on Aug 17. There are no eclipses between November 2026 and the first one in February. 2028 brings five more: a partial lunar eclipse on Jan 12, an annular solar eclipse on Jan 26, a partial lunar eclipse on Jul 6, a total solar eclipse on Jul 22 and a total lunar eclipse on Dec 31. The eclipses page has times, signs and what each may highlight.

Why is everything in UTC?

UTC is the world’s reference clock, so one set of times works for everyone. To convert, add or subtract your time zone’s difference from UTC. If an event lands near midnight UTC, it may fall on a different date where you live.
